Healthcare Project Manager

The Healthcare Project Manager leads healthcare facility projects from concept through occupancy, delivering high-quality, compliant, and cost-effective environments that support patient care and clinical operations.

Acting as an owner’s representative and trusted advisor, this role manages the full project lifecycle—planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout—while aligning scope, budget, schedule, and stakeholder expectations across complex, often occupied healthcare campuses.

Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
  • Lead healthcare projects from early planning through construction, commissioning, and occupancy.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients, design teams, contractors, and user groups.
  • Support master planning, feasibility studies, and phasing strategies for active healthcare campuses.

Design, Cost & Schedule Management
  • Coordinate design and preconstruction efforts to define scope, budget, schedule, and delivery strategy.
  • Manage procurement, bidding, contract negotiations, and consultant coordination.
  • Oversee cost planning, forecasting, change management, and financial reporting.
  • Direct scheduling activities, including milestone tracking, phasing, and long-lead item coordination.

Construction & Compliance
  • Manage construction execution to ensure conformance with contract documents, quality standards, and healthcare regulations (HCAI/OSHPD, CMS, TJC, NFPA, ICRA).
  • Ensure infection control, interim life-safety measures, and operational continuity within active facilities.
  • Maintain a strong culture of safety, quality, and collaboration on all project sites.

Delivery & Team Development
  • Lead commissioning, closeout, and occupancy activities to support smooth transitions to operations.
  • Facilitate clear communication with executive, clinical, and operational stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of a high-performing project team.
From Concept to Completion
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8–10 years of construction management experience, including 5+ years in healthcare environments.
  • Proven experience managing full lifecycle healthcare projects from design through occupancy.
  • Proficiency with scheduling, cost control, and construction management tools (MS Project, Primavera, Procore, Bluebeam).
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare codes, regulations, and delivery in active facilities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
From Concept to Completion
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or certifications (PMP, CCM, DBIA, LEED AP).
  • Experience with CM-at-Risk, Design-Build, or IPD delivery.
  • Background in hospital expansions, multi-facility programs, or large healthcare campuses.
  • Familiarity with Lean Construction, BIM/VDC, and sustainability initiatives.
